Also, am thinking about the fact that I didn’t bother to do hearts and arrows to signify marriages, although Nilima and Nirmal loved each other at one point and we know Moyna loves Fokir, or at least Kanai says so. And Kusum loved her husband. But marriage is just… very decentered in this book as a mode in which love exists. Or maybe not so much decentered as complicated by the many unhappy marriages we see. So there’s a thought, as an update to the earlier post on marriage.
