Hi everyone! I’m reading Soft Science right now and I just wanted to share my impressions of “On the Night of the Election,” because it really spoke to me. This part shows that sexuality is not separate from the other parts of our lives; everything intertwines. We can see the disappointment and despair from the speaker’s day-to-day life is affecting her sexual life, as well. Masturbating here is not for pleasure’s sake, but rather it’s used as an escape. I think that people often think there is a strong line drawn between daily life and sexual behavior, but quite on the contrary, everything about our lives bleeds into the other facets of our experience. What are your thoughts about this?
